About MBAEx

MBA for Executives Programme is IIM Calcutta’s One Year Full Time Residential Programme meant for Executives with minimum and more than five years of professional experience. IIM Calcutta is the first management institute in the country to be Triple Crowned – to be accredited by AACSB [Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business], AMBA {Association of MBAs} and EQUIS [EFMD Quality Improvement System], i.e., accredited by all the three major accreditation agencies in the world for management education. IIMC is also a member of the prestigious CEMs fraternity – the Global Alliance in Management Education – an elite club of 30 premier business schools from across the world, as an Academic partner.

MBAEx provides mid-career professionals the ideal platform to develop their existing skill sets as they prepare themselves for transitions, upscaling and adding value to their own career profiles as well as to the management roles in the industry.

MBAEx since its inception in 2006 has encompassed alumni who are demonstrating excellence in leadership positions in various organisations.

MBAEx class comprises an eclectic mix of youth and experience, emerging from various industries and verticals – Oil and Gas, IT, Consulting, Manufacturing, Defence, Architecture, Health Care, Non-Tech, PSUs, Ministry, Renewable Powers, Coal, Insurance, Space, and many more. Under the able guidance of the country’s leading management faculty, a passion for continuous learning synergizes with experiences from diverse backgrounds to create an enriching learning environment.

Learning beyond the classroom is an equally important facet. In-class pedagogies include Class Participation, Teams, Quiz, Theme Papers and Take-Home assignments, Case Method Analysis, Multi-Media, Presentations, Mid-Term and End-Term examinations, and many others. MBAEx presents its edge in a management education space through its continuous collaborations with industry experts – Leadership Talk Series, Being a CEO series, International Immersion Industry Visits, Industry Insight Series, Business Conclave (Lattice), Live Projects and many others. The student Positions of Responsibilities (PoRs) help develop in-house institution building skills, intentions and executions.

Degree Granting Programme – MoE and its Nature

MBAEx programme fulfils the criteria to be considered as MBA as per global accreditation organisations and features in the coveted ‘Global MBA Ranking’. The programme is of international repute and competes in the one-year MBA section of global rankings viz. Financial Times (FT). Moreover, IIM Act also encourages the Institute to compete globally.

The programme has been continuing since 2006, and over the years, an integrated course package for this programme has been developed and updated annually. The students come with diverse work experience from various backgrounds and industries, making peer learning much more nuanced than a regular MBA programme. Several notable alumni of this programme are placed in leadership positions in various organisations.

Graduating students and new applicants to the programme may note that IIM Calcutta is engaged with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other IIMs to address the concerns of the MoE related to the programme. Being fully owned by the Government of India as an institute of eminence, IIM Calcutta has sought the Ministry’s support in running its best-positioned programmes. The final status of the certificate (Degree or Diploma) will be contingent on the outcome of the deliberations with the Ministry.
