The class of 2011 is 407 strong and has 257 students with prior work experience, the average work experience of the batch being 17 months.IIM Calcutta has a diverse profile in terms of students admitted here. Thus, the atmosphere in the campus is quite energetic with young people accounting the majority.
More than 60% of the students are from engineering background, thereby increasing the average level of problem-solving skills, but that doesn’t mean a complete absence of other backgrounds. Students do come in from Humanities, Commerce, Sciences and other streams.
The percentage of people having work experience is slightly higher than those without work experience, with the majority of them having work experience of 1 to 2 years. At the same time, the batch also consists of students having work experience of as much as 10 years
