IIM Calcutta Case Research Centre (IIMCCRC) successfully hosted the 11th Case Method Workshop on Writing Effective Cases and Teaching Notes in collaboration with Ivey Publishing. The Workshop was held online over four days (August 3, 5, 7, and 9), and participants received a completion certificate endorsed by both IIM Calcutta and Ivey Publishing.
Around 26 enthusiastic participants from different parts of India attended this workshop. The participants consisted research scholars and faculty from prestigious institutions like IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, XLRI, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, IMT Hyderabad, and many others. It also welcomed participants from the corporate and NGO sector, including representatives from Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, FourKites, and Nanritam.
Prof. Peeyush Mehta, Dean (Faculty & Research) of IIM Calcutta inaugurated the event and addressed the participants. The workshop sessions were led by esteemed faculty—Prof. David Wood from Ivey Business School, Prof. Nimruji P Jammulamadaka, Prof. Arpita Ghosh & Prof. Dharma Raju Bathini from IIM Calcutta.
The workshop aimed to help participants develop skills for writing highly effective cases through a participative and feedback approach. Each day of the workshop was followed by an assignment which the participants presented in groups followed by feedback and discussion the next day with the IIM Calcutta facilitators. It also ensured a high-quality learning environment during the sessions and participants engaged with IIM Calcutta faculties, creating valuable connections that enhanced their academic journey.
The success of the workshop can be measured by some of the following feedback from the participants:
Prof. Dharma Raju Bathini gave wonderful examples of cases and shared his experiences with different publishing houses. – Dr. Amrinder Singh, IIM Sirmaur
Very free flowing lecture sprinkled with examples at appropriate places, very engaging. Helped us to understand the “process” of writing the case. – Arushee Grover, IIT Roorkee
The different sessions helped us to understand the nitty-gritties of writing a publishable case which is also effective from teaching standpoint. This lesson is indeed valuable for a doctoral scholar like me aspiring to become management faculty in near future. – Indrani Sinha, XLRI Jamshedpur
