Indian Institute of Management Calcutta’s Case Research Centre (IIMCCRC) successfully hosted the 12th Case Method Workshop titled "Case Writing Mastery: Crafting Engaging and Impactful Management Narratives" from December 20 to 22, 2024, at the IIM Calcutta campus in Joka, Kolkata. This intensive 2.5-day event brought together over 40 participants, including faculty members, doctoral students, research scholars, case writers, and industry practitioners from India and overseas, fostering a dynamic environment of learning and collaboration.
Led by distinguished facilitators Prof. Sandeep Puri from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines, and Prof. Dharma Raju Bathini, HRM group area and Faculty Coordinator of IIMCCRC at IIM Calcutta, the workshop offered a blend of experiential learning, hands-on exercises, and expert guidance. Participants explored the art of case writing, from crafting case plans and developing caselets to structuring comprehensive teaching notes and preparing cases for publication. The workshop flow included breakout sessions, group presentations, and discussions on effective classroom delivery using the case method.
The workshop empowered attendees with practical tools and techniques to create compelling, publication-worthy business cases that bridge theory and practice. Key takeaways included enhanced skills in data gathering, case structuring, and teaching note development, along with a certificate of participation from IIM Calcutta. Participants also had the opportunity to network with peers and explore collaboration prospects with IIM Calcutta faculty, with selected cases eligible for funding and global distribution through partners like Ivey Publishing and Case Centre Limited.
