Abstract Mu Sigma is one of the major success stories coming out of India, in the domain of decision sciences. Currently, it is one of largest pure play big data analytics players with offices in Chicago, London, a huge delivery center in Bangalore and with plans of opening up a new office in Texas, USA. A number of factors have contributed to the success of Mu Sigma. Some of those factors include low cost arbitrage of India, short supply of skilled professionals, a unique value proposition and positioning using the concept of “decision scientist”, extensive in-house training and the hiring policy. However, the Big Data analytics space is increasingly seeing a lot of competition with global behemoths, IT vendors and niche players, all of whom are trying to grab a large piece of the pie. Various players are altering their positioning or value proposition in order to distinguish and set themselves apart from the competitors. Mu Sigma needs to respond to competitor’s maneuvers. In addition, there are various operational and technology related challenges which Mu Sigma is currently facing which might impede its upward trajectory. How should Mu Sigma address these challenges?
