For the coming session of PGPEX 2019-20 the application procedure will start by the end of June, 2018 and the last date for submitting your application will be October 22, 2018.
The check list of documents to be sent is as follows:
a) Duly filled-in application form
b) Application fee paid by demand draft / banker’s cheque
c) GMAT score card
d) Proof of proficiency in English, if applicable
e) Self attested scanned copies of original certificates and mark sheets / transcripts of examinations passed / degrees obtained.
f) Statement of Purpose
g) Two Letters of Recommendation
The total number of seats available will be 70 approximately.
There is no minimum GMAT score required for application. Participants will be selected through a rigorous selection process based on their relative ranking comprising of GMAT score, academic background, professional experience, personal interview, statement of purpose and recommendation letters from two referees.
There is no upper age limit for application.
A candidate should have 5 years of post-qualification professional experience as of 31st March, 2019.
You should take GMAT well in advance so that you can submit the application form along with the GMAT score within 22nd October, 2018. However unofficial GMAT score may be submitted along with the application form (within the last date of application) in case the official GMAT score is not received within that date.
Do I furnish my GMAT score details in the application form only or do I need to arrange independent submission of GMAT score through ETS?
You need to submit the GMAT score along with the application form. Further, you should also inform ETS to directly send the score to us by the due date. The GMAT code for the PGPEX programme is 9CP- HT-99 and is also mentioned in the application form.

PGPEX Program Fees (2019-20)
PGPEX programme fee for the academic year 2019- 20 will be Indian Rupees 22,00,000/- (non-refundable) or equivalent US$ for one year, plus tax as applicable, payable in four instalments as follows:
- Payment of Indian Rupees 2,00,000/- + GST as applicable ( prevailing GST rate 18%) by 24th December, 2018 (commitment fee) along with acceptance of the admission offer.
- Payment of Indian Rupees 6,00,000/- + GST as applicable ( prevailing GST rate 18%) by 19th April 2019 (second installment)
Furthermore Rs 20,000/- is to be paid as security deposit by Demand Draft/ Pay order favouring Indian Institute of Management Calcutta along with the second installment. This amount will be refunded on completion of the programme after necessary adjustments of dues, if any.
- Payment of Indian Rupees 7,00,000/- + GST as applicable ( prevailing GST rate 18%) by 25 July, 2019 (third installment)
- Payment of Indian Rupees 7,00,000/- + GST as applicable ( prevailing GST rate 18%) by 28 November, 2019 (fourth installment)
This amount includes tuition fees and cost of course material, books, accommodation (single) and economy airfare of study tours organized by IIMC.
Over and above the programme fees mentioned in the above payment schedule, please note that in case you have opted for family accommodation, it will cost an additional Rs 48,000/- ( Forty eight thousand) for the duration of the programme. This amount has to be paid by Demand Draft / Pay Order along with the Acceptance of Offer (1st installment) and will be refunded if we are unable to provide family accommodation as desired by you. Family accommodation will be provided on a first come first served basis.
Other charges such as for electricity, food, expenses of personal nature are not covered by these fees and will have to be borne by the individual students.
The programme fee includes tuition fees, cost of study materials, single accommodation and cost of study tours organised by IIMC. (Students provided with family accommodation however are required to pay Rs 48,000/- extra). Airfare, accommodation, visa and medical insurance charges for overseas study tours will be borne by the Institute. Expenses for food during study tour abroad are also subsidised.
An amount of Rs 20,000/- has to be paid as a refundable caution deposit at the time of registration.
Students will have to bear expenses for food, personal travel, electricity, cable TV, other utility and misc., expenses and any other expenses of personal nature during their stay in the campus or abroad.

As on date, scholarships are not available for the PGPEX participants
We will inform the candidates who are short-listed for interview. Further, we will send letters of Admission to the selected candidates. We regret that we will not be able to communicate with candidates, who are either not short-listed or not selected for admission to the programme.
Placement assistance will be provided to all participants except those candidates who are sponsored by companies. Please note that the Institute does not guarantee placement to the candidates.
Candidates who are employed must produce in original, the letter of release from the employer or the employer’s receipt of the letter of resignation at the time of registration. In case of employed candidates who have signed a bond with the employer, a letter from the employer must be produced at the time of registration, stating clearly the status/nature of the bond between the candidate and the employer. If a student has taken leave from his/her company to join the programme, then there must be a letter from his/her employer to that effect. In case the candidate is on leave/lien from a company during the tenure of the programme, a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from the company must be submitted to avail of the Institute’s placement facilities. This must clearly state that the employee can avail of the placement services provided by IIM Calcutta.
We will provide furnished accommodation on campus.
The accommodation for current students (without family) are single rooms in the Management Development Centre. The facilities include A/C, intercom and common washing machine, fridge, TV, microwave (in lounge).
Limited family accommodation (one composite room with kitchen and attached bathroom, fridge , TV, A/C, washing machine, intercom, electric kettle, microwave oven, wi-fi ) is also available for some of the participants. Room charges for family accommodation are Rs.48000/- extra for the entire year which is exclusive of electricity and other personal expenses. The allotment of family accommodation will be subject to availability and requirement. Residing outside the campus is not permissible.
Will the course provide specialization in a functional discipline like Finance, Marketing, Systems, Operation etc?
PGPEX is a general management programme. As a part of the programme, the participants will have to take 15 elective courses during the 4th, 5th and 6th terms from the total number of electives offered. This would cover all major functional disciplines.
PGPEX is a One-year full-time residential programme leading to “Post-graduate Diploma in Management for Executives” and is different from our 2-year Post-graduate Programme.
The PGPEX students are required to undertake an international immersion module as a part of the curriculum. This includes company visits and academic sessions at international business schools. No separate fees are payable by the students for this module. The Institute takes care of airfare, accommodation, visa and medical insurance charges. Expenses for food are also subsidized.
When will you announce the list of selected candidates? Is it possible to know about selection earlier in case of urgency?
The list of selected candidates will be announced within the second half of November, 2018. Information regarding selection of a candidate cannot be provided earlier
In the Application Form, you have stated that at least one of the reference letters should be by someone from industry who is familiar with applicant’s professional experience. Can I submit both of my reference letters from persons in the same Industry?
Yes, you can.
Statement of Purpose : What exactly are you looking for? Am I supposed to mention the purpose of entering into the course?
This should include an objective and clear statement on: why do you want to join the PGPEX programme?; what qualities, experience and achievements do you have to justify your admission?; what type of jobs and at what level do you expect after successful completion of PGPEX?
My medium of instruction in school was not English but in college I studied in English. Am I required to provide any proof of proficiency in English? Do I need to take all the tests – TOEFL, TWE and IELTS?
You need not provide any proof of proficiency in English. Those who need to provide the proof will have to take one of the tests mentioned in the Application Form.
It is mentioned that a Letter of Recommendation has to be sealed by the referee before it is handed over to the applicant. Is it necessary to get the signatures of the referee across the flaps of the envelope?
Yes, please obtain the signatures of the referees across the flaps of the envelope containing the Letter of Recommendation.
No. The participants are required to have a minimum of 3 years of under-graduate study after 12 years of school education and the graduation should be from a recognized university or equivalent.

The PGPEX application form is to be downloaded from the Institutes website www.iimcal.ac.in/pgpex and sent to us duly filled-in with all relevant details and testimonials along with the application fee of Rs 2000/-which is non refundable.
Yes, the participants will be part of IIMC alumni.
There is usually one week’s leave during the entire course. The final decision in this regard is taken by the PGPEX Committee.
There is a deferred admission policy in PGPEX, subject to rules and the approval of the PGPEX committee
Interviews are normally held in Bangalore, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi. Skype interviews are arranged for overseas candidates. Applicants will have to appear for personal interview in any of the above locations at their own expenses.

No. However, the originals have to be produced at the time of registration.
We regret that CAT scores are not considered for PGPEX programme. Only GMAT scores are applicable.
Regret there is no consideration. All candidates will have to appear for the selection process as mentioned earlier.
No. Only a certain number of applicants will be called for the interview based on the comparative parameters ( mentioned in Clause 5 above ) furnished by the applicants. Regret, fulfillment of eligibility criteria is not the only benchmark for being called for the interview.
Self attested documents will be accepted, subject to verification.
